We the taxpayers subsidized our greedy neighbor and the Japanese carmakers. For what? Now that it is over, the auto industry will face a bigger slump next year, at a time when the economy hits the great depression.

Sharky, I gather you have not shopped recently. Today, I can hardly find a product that says “made in usa” today. Even IBM and Microsoft have outsourced significant programming abroad. Most of the goods sold at home today are manufactured abroad.

There is nothing either the Fed or anybody can do to save us from the coming depression. Until we produce the goods that we consume, we will keep losing jobs.
